The Lost Shadow Boys
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐PILLYWIGGIN: The Lost Shadow Boys is one of those stories that grabs you right away and doesn’t let go. It takes you deep into the Mantelrealm, where Jayce and a group of fairy boys are stuck working for a wicked witch in a blazing hot mine. They can’t even use their wings because of the heat, but they don’t give up. Instead, they come up with clever ways to survive, building gadgets and holding onto the dream of escaping.
The world-building is absolutely amazing. From dragons guarding the mines to the eerie Oddizens watching their every move, everything feels vivid and exciting. And then there’s the prophecy about a girl who’s supposed to save them, but it’s been so long that no one believes in it anymore. The only glimmer of hope is Tashuhunka—the one boy who escaped and secretly helps them from the outside, keeping the tension high.
This book really stands out because it’s not just about magic or adventure; it’s about courage, hope, and sticking together no matter what. If you’re into stories with heart and imagination, this one’s a must-read! - Review by Mylovefor.book

"Pillywiggin: The Lost Shadow Boys by Debbie Bishop strikes a perfect balance between the fantastical and the relatable, making it both enjoyable and profoundly meaningful."
"In the perilous world of Mantelrealm, survival is a formidable challenge, particularly for Jayce, who leads a group of young boys captured by a malevolent witch during a massive battle. Despite possessing fairy magic, their escape from the blistering prison is not an option through flight. Instead, they are forced to craft makeshift tools to mine fairy dust under the vigilant eyes of mercenary dragons and enigmatic creatures known as Oddizens. Their only hope for freedom lies in a boy who managed to escape and smuggled in supplies. However, with past escape attempts having failed and time running out, they anxiously await the fulfillment of a prophecy that foretells the arrival of a girl destined to save them. But will she arrive in time?
Pillywiggin: The Lost Shadow Boys by Debbie Bishop strikes a perfect balance between the fantastical and the relatable, making it both enjoyable and profoundly meaningful. The young protagonists, despite their age, bear the weighty responsibilities and challenges typically associated with adulthood. This stark contrast between their youth and the burdens they carry evokes a deep sense of empathy. Their struggles with loss, responsibility, and survival in an unforgiving world mirror the real-life challenges many young people face today, who are forced to mature too quickly. This unexpected depth adds a compelling layer to the story, transforming it into more than just a fantastical escape. The language used in the book is highly accessible, broadening its appeal to readers as young as twelve. Though firmly within the fantasy genre, the plot remains easy to follow. This accessibility is particularly evident in how Bishop introduces and develops the story’s prophecy. Complex themes are distilled into simple, captivating explanations that younger readers can easily grasp. This simplicity does not diminish the story’s richness; rather, it ensures that even profound ideas are conveyed in an engaging and thought-provoking manner, fostering a deeper connection with the narrative. The book’s ending left me eagerly anticipating the next installment. With just a single sentence, Bishop masterfully sets up a cliffhanger that raises numerous questions about the characters’ futures and the unfolding plot. This clever narrative choice keeps readers hooked and invested, reflecting the unpredictability and open-ended nature of our own stories." Literary Titan reviewer
"Pillywiggin: The Lost Shadow Boys excels in blending relatable, real-world experiences with its fantasy elements, making it a compelling read. Themes of youthful burdens, accessible yet profound storytelling, and cliffhangers that resonate with real-life uncertainties ensure that the narrative remains grounded in reality while offering an escape into a richly imagined world. I highly recommend this book to tween readers who enjoy high fantasy, such as The Lord of the Rings..." Literary Titan reviewer

Review of PILLYWIGGIN The Lost Shadow Boys by EBERE WRITES COCEPT
"In a forest, a mysterious figure drops a crucial parcel, which a young boy named Tash retrieves. Inside is Chloe, a baby with a special mark, destined to combat dark magic. Fast forward ten years, and Chloe’s curiosity leads her to explore places, despite Tash’s warnings. As she uncovers hidden dangers and helps free captives, including a powerful fairy, her true role begins to surface. Meanwhile, Tash faces his own battles against dark forces. With Chloe’s powers slowly awakening, the stakes grow higher. Will she fulfill her destiny and confront the approaching evil? The journey has only just begun.
PILLYWIGGIN The Lost Shadow Boys by Debbie Bishop takes readers on an exciting adventure filled with magical realms and courageous heroes. The book’s excitement really picks up as Chloe, despite Tash’s warnings, is drawn to the eerie Heatherworld. LB is a young boy who narrowly escapes from a giant, dragon-like lizard, and Jayce swoops in to save him. The story is full of action-packed scenes and vivid descriptions. Jayce’s brave confrontation with Hagla, the dark magic of Heatherworld, and the fierce battles involving fairy dragons make for an engaging read.
Monica is my best character. Her persona at first seemed somewhat off-putting, but as the narrative developed, she played a role I was surprised she agreed to. One more person I really respect is Tash. His bravery makes him a motivating character throughout the narrative.
...The author’s writing style is both engaging and vivid, bringing the enchanting and mysterious world to life with clear, imaginative prose. The book covers themes of bravery and heroism. The author's creativity is exceptional, creating a fantastical realm that feels both magical and tangible. The settings, from the eerie Heatherworld to the hidden tunnels, are richly described, enhancing the sense of adventure and mystery. Self-discovery is another significant theme in the book. Chloe’s journey is not only about external adventures but also about finding her own strengths and purpose.
There is nothing I didn’t like about the book. I rate it 5 out of 5 stars. One of the book’s strongest qualities is its suspenseful moments. For instance, the sequence where Chloe and her friends go into the perilous tunnel and discover a sleeping figure is full of tension and keeps you curious. The author does an excellent job bringing in tension, making you feel like you’re right there with the characters. I recommend the book to fans of fantasy adventures and suspenseful stories."

BLACK TIDE
The story continues!
Graphic Novel collects the next five episodes of this story arc co
Atlantis is now a myth, and the Atlanteans would like to keep it that way. Living secretly among us, their elite Black Ops team tries to protect us. What they didn't expect was their greatest enemy from ancient Atlantis to turn up alive.
TRUST NO ONE. That is the code of the Deceivers. First rule you learn in training, last thing you think of that you should have remembered as the one person you trusted takes you down.
With all Kaila’s been through you’d think she’d be over trusting anyone ever again...but Gianni’s good. He planted seeds in her mind tagging Justin as a terrorist. Combine that with her memories of the last war on ancient Atlantis and Kaila was doubting whether she should even trust her own instincts. And Gianni kept on coming. Not leaving her side for a second. Swaying her closer to the Hexon side. Which really grazed Justin, who, disguised as Dirk, had to watch the whole bit on survellience nanocams.
To make matters worse, Justin was forced to rescue an old enemy from the clutches of Catharta before he spilled everything he knew about the Deceivers. Right under Hexon’s nose. General Stern finally revealed what caused the bad blood between him and Justin’s father was the weapon everyone was after...a portable sound wave gun powerful enough to demolish a city block in seconds. Only Stern didn’t have it. That meant only one man did...or at least Hexon thought he did and maybe they were keeping Justin’s dad alive thinking he knew where it is.
It was coming together. That was until Justin learned the weapon was on a disk...perhaps something like the disk he and his dad buried in the middle of the night in an open field under a cloak of darkness ten years earlier. Now he was wishing he hadn’t dug it up...or left it in Kaila’s plane...especially since Kaila has seemed to switch sides...and now...has disappeared.

FIVE STARS! Part Sci-fi, part fantasy, with elements of covert intrigue and superhero action, Black Tide is one of the more multifaceted stories I've read in quite a long time ...This is unquestionably a book you'll want to read. It's rare that you get a comic series this complex today. Tim Janson, Amazon.com Reviewer
This is a perfect fit for teens who are new to comics. The adventure is smooth, and Bishop's use of quick dossier-style character overviews will remind teens of the way video games present their backstories. The crisply colored art is competent, and even sometimes inspired, and there are a few intriguing extras that feature information about some of the theoretical technology used in the book. Y/A Novel ages 8 -18 - From the comic book series, Black Tide, Enter The Game takes place in Justin's teenage years...
Enter The Game is where it all begins for Justin.
As the son of an International Special Forces agent, Justin has seen the dangers in the world first hand. He's been to more high schools than he can count and can't talk to a girl to save his life. But now, when his dad is left for dead by the powers who employ him Justin must somehow find the courage to locate and rescue him by himself. To do it, he will have to infiltrate the Deceivers - the most covert and deadly Black Ops organization in the world.
Based on the popular comic book Black Tide. The fascinating story combines science, history, technology, myth, metaphysics and tales of Atlantis with some of the same issues we face in our world today. Unlike the comic book, this novel is set in Justin’s formative teen years. Justin is an old soul and he is haunted by nightmares from what he thinks might be his previous life. If it was, can he forgive himself? How does a soldier go on after violence?

Just prior to the start of WWII a publicly humiliated Army Air Corps test pilot, court-martialed for an unauthorized flight that endangered the life of President Roosevelt, takes the only job he can get - flying an experimental airplane around the world from South to North poles. When his plane is attacked and crashes in the Arctic, he finds himself in an undiscovered land inhabited by a lost tribe of Norsemen who ride giant eagles and, in a surprising turn of events, becomes America's only hope against a devastating sneak attack by the Nazis and their powerful new electromagnetic weapon.
What people are saying about WAR EAGLES - from Audible:
WW2 with a dash of fantasy!
I really enjoyed stepping back in time as the race for air travel was developing. One could truly feel the passion these pilots and engineers had for these magnificent machines. The twist of stepping back into a land of Vikings and dinosaurs was very well executed.
Well done to both the author and the narrator.

Reminiscent of Golden Age Sci Fi
This audio book reminded me of some of the 40's and 50's era tales, but what it happens to be is an alternative timeline World War II era fun adventure story. Think of a weird mash-up of a screw-up Captain America wanna-be mixed with the Land of the Lost mixed with Avatar where Hitler is the real villain and you might come close. At any rate, it's load of good fun and non stop action. But don't get distracted for a minute or you'll miss something! There are american pilots, Polish spies, Vikings, giant prehistoric eagles and, of course, Nazis! What more could you ask for to while away an afternoon? Our hero even gets the (Viking) girl! Put your feet up an get lost in what might have been.... *I was given a review copy of this audio book at my request in exchange for my honest review*

it's Amelia Earnhart meets WWII
This is not an accurate historical fiction book, but rather an action-packed book set an historical time. I normally listen to my books at a higher speed, however the amount of drama and action in this book I had to slow it down. I like the storyline and the narrator however, the sound effects throughout the book did kind of throw me since I'm not used to that and most audible books. still I would recommend this is a good read.

I Would Like to See this on the Silver Screen
Back in the late 1930s, the director of King Kong started planning War Eagles as his next block buster film. Then World War II intervened and the project languished for decades. It helps to know this background to fully appreciate this novel. It’s a big cinematic adventure waiting to find the screen. The heroes are larger than life, but more importantly, the images are bigger and more vivid than the mighty King Kong who reinvented the silver screen. And what are those images you may ask? Nazis developing super-science weapons for a sneak attack on America, Viking warriors riding gargantuan eagles in a time-forgotten land of dinosaurs, and of course, those same Vikings fighting Nazis over the skyline of New York City.
This book is a heck of a lot of fun. It starts a little bit slow but once the Vikings enter the story it chugs along at a heroic pace. There is a ton of action and colorful confrontations. Narrator William L. Hahn pulls out all the stops adding theatrical sound effects to his wide repertoire of voices which adds a completely appropriate cinematic feel to the entire story. If you’re looking for some genuinely heroic fantasy, you should try War Eagles.

FIVE STAR REVIEWS - amazon.com
FIVE STARS! - I loved it! Great book! The recipes are really easy and funny. -- A reader, amazon.com
"You know, for years I thought my brother made the best seafood gumbo I’ve ever tasted. I asked him for the recipe recently and you know what he said? “Go down to the chicken place on the corner and pick up a quart.” And I thought I invented “Pre-Fab.”The word comes from those pre-fabricated houses...you know, the ones that are built in a factory, trucked to a lot and put up in a few days. They’re usually more affordable than building one individual home because the manufacturer’s costs are spread out over several houses. The buyers snazz them up with paint, hardscape and landscaping and make them them their own. I thought if they can make houses that way, we should be able to do the same with food.
Why should we spend all our time cooking? There are so many fabulous pre-fab foods to choose from. We can pick something up from the grocer and doll it up a bit — nobody needs to know we didn’t make it from scratch.
I’ve found that I save money this way, too. I don’t know about you, but unless I label leftovers with signs that say “It’s okay to eat this until such-and-such a day...REALLY!,” they don’t get eaten. Even with labels, they don’t always get eaten. With pre-fab foods, there is usually less waste, because I can buy in quantities just large enough for the meal — and I don’t have to get all of those other ingredients that I may not use.
Flo’s an exception. She really does make her meals. She’s a wonderful gourmet cook of those delicious old-fashioned foods that we all grew up with. When I showed her my original book she said, “You know...you really ought to put some recipes in it.”
So there you have it. The story of how our cookbook came to be. A combination of quick and easy or ready-made dishes and recipes that might take awhile. There are fat-free and fat-full ideas. (No guilt allowed.) You can decide how much effort to put into your meals. But honey, don’t work too hard — we all deserve a little pampering now and then."

YOU: What is the meaning of life? YOU by Debbie Bishop
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
It was amazing
"What Is The Meaning Of Life? YOU" feels like sitting down for an open, heartfelt conversation with someone who really understands you. It combines ancient wisdom like qigong with modern energy practices, giving you practical tools to handle fears, grief, and life’s ups and downs.
What really stood out to me is how usable it is—this isn’t just advice you’ll skim through and forget. The exercises are straightforward and actually help you change how you think and approach life. What sets it apart is that it doesn’t just focus on quick fixes. It digs deeper, helping you understand what’s holding you back and showing you how to turn those struggles into opportunities. The writing is so down-to-earth, it feels like the author is right there, guiding you step by step.
For me, it gave me a fresh perspective on my fears and taught me how to focus on what’s truly important. The sections about manifestation and overcoming self-imposed limits really hit home—they’re simple but so empowering. If you’re looking for more joy, clarity, or just a new way to look at things, this book is a must-read. It’s practical, uplifting, and something you’ll want to keep close and share with others. It’s a wonderful reminder that the answers we’re searching for are already within us.
